Teacher Appreciation, School Family Day Next Week 

Join us as we celebrate the hard work and important contributions of teachers during National PTA’s Teacher Appreciation Week

, May 8-12, 2017.

And for one special day next week – Tuesday, May 9 – schools and communities across Michigan will observe Teacher Day/School Family Day with local celebrations that pay tribute to the contributions all school employees – teachers and education support professionals – make to our communities and to society in general.

The National PTA has put together an easy-to-use set of digital resources

that make it easy to personally thank educators for making a positive impact on the lives of children across the country.

They’re asking people to share photos and activities during the week by using the hashtag #ThankATeacher

on social media.
And in recognition of the national Teacher Appreciation Week, read this letter of appreciation

from NEA President Lily Eskelsen García, who recognizes that for educators, “there is no such thing as ‘other people’s children.’ There are only your kids—the students you love and nurture as if they were your own.”
